Work contents can be assigned for multiple product variants in the "Assignment" area of the mix balancing. The work carried out in the "Assignment" tab essentially follows the same principles as a standard balancing.

If at least one product variant is stored in the balancing, the following functions can also be used.

Assignment options for variants

In addition to the buttons that are available with a simple balancing, the following functions are added when balancing variants.

Button	Meaning
Initial / Umverteilen / Aufheben	It is possible to define different options for the assignment.
Product variant	The variant to be shown can be selected here. The selection is only active if at least one variant has been created in the "Variants" tab.
Copy from	Copy assignment: Copies the assignment of all elements from the selected variant to the current variant, provided that the element can be assigned due to its validity. The existing assignments of the current variant are deleted beforehand. The button is only active if there are at least two variants. If the current variant already has at least one assignment, the user is asked in a dialog box whether the assignment should be overwritten or the action cancelled.

Types of assignment:

There are different ways to assign work contents:

1.Assign work contents initially (via drag and drop or the context menu in the "Work contents" area)

2.Move previously assigned processes (via drag and drop or the context menu function "Move to" in the tree)

3.Remove assignment (by clicking the “- Remove assignment" button in the ribbon, using the context menu or the Del key)

Selection of variants

Option	Meaning
All variants	All variants are affected.
Current variant	Only the currently open variant is affected.
User selection	The variants selected by the user are affected.

When using the user selection, a dialog opens where the variants that are available for each process are listed. The user determines the assignment by setting checkboxes.

Display of processes in the work contents

It is also possible to filter the display of the processes in the work contents:

Filter work contents acc. to variants	•If this option is active, only the processes of the product variant selected in the ribbon are displayed. •If the option is inactive, all elements of all variants are displayed.
All processes	All processes of the balancing
Assigned processes	Balanced processes
Not assigned processes	Not balanced / assignable processes

Product variants and variant keys

If the corresponding columns are shown, you can see the product variants and variant keys assigned to the process in the tree view.

Clicking in the "Product variants" column opens a drop-down menu where you can select the product variant for which an element should be valid.
