Motion Modeling

Consecutive actions, combined actions, simultaneous actions, and compound actions are modeled in the ribbon of the MTM-HWD® Analysis tab using the Simultaneity and Cancel buttons.

In the following section, you will find information on delimitation, characteristics, and illustration of the various options.

Information on how to use this feature: MTM-HWD Analysis

Sequential Actions

Definition:

Consecutive actions are single actions or a series of actions executed one after another by the same or different body parts without any overlap or interruption.

Properties:

In general, all MTM-HWD actions can be modeled as consecutive actions.

Presentation:

Consecutive actions are illustrated in the MTM-HWD Structure tab without any additional marking.

Combined Actions

Definition:

Combined actions are two or more complete motions performed simultaneously by a body part during the time-defining motion.

Properties:

A common sequence of actions is DEPOSIT-DEPOSIT. A “Regrasp G2" (e.g., for the DEPOSIT action) can be described within a single line without using parentheses.

Presentation

In this type of modeling, the inner parenthesis is used to model multiple motions of one hand.

Simultaneous actions

Definition:

Simultaneous motions are individual motions or a series of motions performed by the left and right hand simultaneously.

Properties

Simultaneous actions can only occur with the MTM-HWD actions OBTAIN, DEPOSIT, APPLY PRESSURE, RETRACT, HOLD, and PURPOSE.

Presentation

In this type of modeling, in the MTM-HWD Structure tab the outer parenthesis is used to model multiple motions of both hands.

Compound actions

Definition:

Compound actions are combined actions performed simultaneously by the left and right hand and whose duration is dependent from the limiting motion.

Properties:

Compound actions can only occur with the MTM-HWD actions OBTAIN, DEPOSIT, APPLY PRESSURE, RETRACT, HOLD, and PURPOSE.

Presentation:

In this form of modeling, both the outer and inner parentheses are used.

Enable/Disable simultaneous action

1.Open the MTM-HWD Analysis tab

2.Select the desired rows

3.Open the context menu with the right mouse button

4.Click Enable Simultaneous Operation or Disable Simultaneous Operation
