Depending on the element configuration, you can set whether the texts are stored in a language-neutral or multilingual format. The "Language-neutral texts" option can be set in the respective element configuration in the administration. The checkbox is activated by default so that the texts are stored in one language. If a user wants to work in multiple languages, the checkmark must be explicitly removed.
If elements of a configuration already exist, a message appears when converting that the elements of the respective configuration are saved in several languages or in one language. In addition, the administrator is informed that no users should be logged in while this job is running.

Advantages:
•It is possible to mix different settings in a folder (e.g. Detailed analyses monolingual, Calculation multilingual or vice versa, or analyses multilingual and balancings monolingual).
•By moving into another folder, texts cannot be lost.
User without Translator-role
If a user without the "Translator" role edits elements, then it does not matter whether they create or edit these elements in an element configuration with or without activating the "Language-neutral texts" option. The changes made by this user are always saved consistently in all languages. This makes sense and is important if changes with regard to technical aspects and contents are made.
User with Translator-role = Translator
If a user has the "Translator" role, they can translate elements from the login language directly into other languages. To do this, the "Übersetzen" area is available in the ribbon.
Elements that belong to a language-neutral element configuration cannot be translated. There is no "Translate" area in the ribbon for these elements. If the translator changes a text for a language-neutral element, this change will be applied and saved in all languages.

Especially for elements created in the element configuration without the "Language-neutral texts" option, the changes are only saved in the login language. This means that a translator should really only translate. |
