You can define per element configuration, if texts are saved language-neutral or multilingually. The option "Language-neutral texts" can be set at the appropriate element configuration in the administration. The check box is active by default, so that the texts are maintained in one language. If a user wants to work with several languages, the check mark must be explicitly removed.
If elements of a configuration already exist, a message appears when converting that the elements of the respective configuration are saved in several languages or in one language. In addition, the administrator is informed that no users should be logged on while this job is running.

Advantages:
•It is possible to mix different settings in a folder (e.g. Detailed analyses monolingual, Calculation multilingual or vice versa, or analyses multilingual and balancings monolingual).
•By moving into another folder, texts cannot be lost.
User without Translator-role
If a user without Translator role, edits elements, then it does not matter, if he creates or edits these elements in an element configuration with or without active option "Language-neutral texts". The changes made by this user are always saved equally in all languages. This makes sense and is important, if changes with regard to technical aspects and contents are made.
User with Translator-role = Translator
If a user has the Translator role, he can translate elements from the logon language directly into other languages. To do this, the Translate group is available in the ribbon.
Elements which belong to a language-neutral element configuration cannot be translated. For these elements, there is no Translate group in the ribbon. If the translator changes a text at a language-neutral element, this change will be applied and saved in all languages.

A user, who is translator at the same time, should consider that he does not make any changes with regard to technical aspects and contents. Especially for elements, which have been created in the element configuration without the option "Language-neutral texts", the changes are only saved in the logon language. That means, a translator should only translate. |
