Import process elements from Excel

Starting with TiCon 4.10, it is possible to import process elements with substructures from Excel spreadsheets.

The following file formats are accepted for import:

Format

Function

.xlsx or .csv

Import of header elements

.xlsx

Import of header elements with structure

Preliminary Work

To import elements with a structure, two worksheets must be included in the following order:

▪HEADER (containing the element header data)

▪STRUCTURE (with an element structure)

Work steps

1.Open Explorer

2.Click the Import button

3.In the drop-down menu, click Process elements from Excel

4.Navigate to the desired file in the Open dialog box

5.Assign columns (Header)

In the Options tab, under the Column Mapping - Header section, you can configure the column mapping for the header data.
In the left-hand pane the header data descriptions from TiCon are listed. In the right-hand pane, the contents of the columns are mapped to these descriptions from the corresponding column in the Excel file.
These are selected and assigned using a drop-down menu.

6.Assign columns (structure)
In the Options tab, under the Column Mapping - structure section, you can configure the column mapping for the elements.
In the left-hand pane the columns of a structure row are listed. In the right-hand pane, the contents of the columns are mapped to these descriptions from the corresponding column in the Excel file.
These are selected and assigned using a drop-down menu.
If the value 0 (Do not import) is selected, the corresponding value will not be imported.

Please note:

When importing tables with only one worksheet, this step is not necessary.

Import criteria

If this checkbox is selected, the Criteria tab is added to the view.

Using the Add and Remove buttons on this tab, you can assign time types to the columns in the import file from a drop-down list. Use the Time Type button to adjust the time type being used.

Definition of the element configuration

If required, select the language for the elements to be imported in the element configuration tab. Only configurations of the P.BEL type can be selected.

If no separate column is assigned, only a common configuration for all elements can be selected. Only those element configurations for which the user has the necessary permissions can be selected.

The import cannot be performed without a specified element configuration.

Please note:

If a element cannot be imported due to an identical code, index, or variant, or due to a lack of permissions, a corresponding note is displayed in the import log.

Definition of type and status

Type and status are passed if the corresponding columns are mapped in the import file. Otherwise, the default value from the selected element configuration is used.

If a code does not exist, the default value is automatically assigned, and a Note is added to the import log.

Element creation

A new element is created from each row in the HEADER spreadsheet.

Elements that already exist in the database (MTM building blocks, customer-specific elements such as BMW standard data) do not need to be imported and can optionally be overwritten.

The All and Nothing Buttons

Especially when working with large amounts of data, it is recommended to use the buttons to either select all rows or deselect all rows.

Automatic Mapping

If the column headers in the Excel spreadsheet match the descriptions in TiCon, they are automatically mapped. The resulting mapping is saved in the user profile.
