The product structure is the basis for representing different variants of a product.
It serves the
•Definition of product variants
•Definition of validities (on process elements)
Types
The "Validity" of a process shows the product family (or families) to which the process is assigned. The variants for which the process is to be used, i.e. is valid, can also be selected there.
Recommended mode of operation for creating a product structure
1.Create product family
2.Create product features and assign to product family (or families)
3.Create assembly/options and assign to product feature (or features)
4.Create variants, assign product family and configure features accordingly
