TiCon for Windows 4.10 includes several changes to the user interface, which are illustrated below. These changes affect all elements with EAWS evaluation.
Omission of Complex input method
The complex input method is replaced by the simple input method to make data entry easier for the user and to comply with the guidelines and options provided in the official EAWS form.
Existing analyses will not be changed. However, the entries already specified in the complex input are still used to calculate the evaluation. Once the body posture has changed, it is impossible to restore those.
Arm-/Whole body forces
The separate recording of arm forces and whole-body forces, which was previously used, has been adapted to the EAWS form and is no longer supported. Instead, the combined Arm/whole-body force column is available.
The Mode of grasping option has been added to the Arm/whole-body force dialog box. This setting is linked to the separate Mode of grasping column. For more notes on the settings and behavior of the mode of grasping, see the Mode of grasping section below.
Existing analyses will not be changed.
In cells that already contain entries, the columns will still be displayed, but they can no longer be edited. However, the entries already specified in the complex input are still used to calculate the evaluation.
In every row that contains an entry, a trash can icon appears in the upper-left corner of the analysis. This allows you to delete entries you have already made for arm strength and full-body strength.
Conversion to version 4.10
In analyses using existing whole-body forces, the following text is automatically inserted into the comments column: Separately recorded whole-body forces are no longer supported.
Upper limbs
The Mode of grasping setting is included in the Upper Limb settings. For more information, see the section: Adjustment of Setting of mode of grasping
Awkward positions are defined by selecting the Present: Yes and Present: No values in the corresponding check boxes.

Please note: |
|---|
Historical data containing a proportion of awkward positions (e.g., 47%) remains unchanged so that existing calculation results are not distorted. |
Notes on entering the force value:
The force value is used in calculations involving finger forces and can therefore be specified in both the upper limb section and the finger forces section. When the force value is entered in one of these fields, it is automatically reflected in the other field.
After selecting the mode of grasping, a note regarding the maximum force is automatically displayed (based on sex and mode of grasping):
If the entered force value exceeds the allowed maximum value, a warning message appears.
Please note: |
|---|
The changes described here do not affect EAWS rapid screenings. |
Setting the mode of grasping
The mode of grasping can be configured at in the following columns:
:
▪Arm-/Whole body forces
▪Finger forces
▪Manual material handling
▪Upper Limbs (Forces)
The Mode of grasping setting in any of these columns is reflected in the Mode of grasping column.
If, on the other hand, the grip type is changed in the Mode of grasping column, this also results in a change to the mode of grasping settings for the upper limbs, arm-/whole-body forces, finger forces, etc.

Setting the Mode of grasping in the “Arm-/Whole-body force" column
Notes on entering the force value:
After selecting the mode of grasping, a note regarding the maximum force value is automatically displayed (specific to sex and mode of grasping):
If the entered force value exceeds the allowed maximum value, a warning message appears.
Please note: |
|---|
The settings for the mode of grasping and force value level apply to both one-handed operations and combined left- and right-handed operations. |
Handling Loads
Duration:
When you select the load types Hold or Automatic, the duration is specified in the input dialog not only as a percentage but also as a time value. This makes it easier to compare the proportion of the total duration.
The duration is illustrated as a split row consisting of:
▪a time value
▪a percentage
If a time value is entered, the percentage is calculated automatically.
If a percentage value is entered, the resulting time value is calculated automatically. The percentage must not exceed 100%.
When entering the time value, you can change the time unit and the number of decimal places by clicking on the unit.
When entering the percentage value, you do not have the ability to change the unit or the number of decimal places.

Mode of grasping
The mode of grasping setting is integrated into the settings for Handling Loads section. For more information, see the section: Adjustment of Setting of mode of grasping
Points of posture
By default, Posture points can be entered with one decimal place. Only values within the range 1<= x <= 8 may be used.
If the Calculate posture points automatically option is selected, you can hover over the help icon to access guidance on how to define the posture points.
